Electronic Theatre Special Report: E3 2005: Xbox

While many have Microsoft’s Xbox360 announcement pegged as the greatest of the show, you’d be very mistaken to think the company’s Xbox showing was lack-lustre. While any truly amazing first-party products were a bit thin on the ground, their second and third-party offerings were amongst the top flight products on display.

Half-Life 2 was displayed in full swing standing-strong alongside the PC version – a title which many consider the best game of 2004. Hitman: Blood Money and Star Wars: Battlefront II expand on their predecessors beyond comprehension and Evil Dead: Regeneration looks likely to be the most (and, in most peoples opinion, only) worthwhile title in the series.

In-house major-player, Halo2, demonstratedElectronic Theatre Image the additional Multiplayer Map Pack to woo all of those XboxLIVE! fanatics – which Microsoft touted has now reached 2million and Conker: Live & Reloaded managed to dispel the industry’s media’s fears that the title would be little more than a flash-in-the-pan… shame on them for thinking RARE would let anyone down. We’ve got a whole host of titles played to the limits for you and every other Xbox game playable at the show previewed also. If that’s not enough – we had an exclusive play-test of the Xbox version of Ultimate Spider-Man, a title which to most was only available in video format.
