Electronic Theatre Special: Sales Chart

Week Ending 26th August, 2006.

As autumn approaches and some of the bigger new releases begin to hit our shelves what kind of impact will these have on the Weekly Sales Charts? The Top 3; Disney/Pixar: Cars, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and NEW Super Mario Bros. at Numbers 1 to 3 respectively hasn’t Electronic Theatre Image changed in the last five weeks, although games released this week, such as Saints Row, should turn things on their heads.

This week only two new entries make it into the Top 20 with Ninety-Nine Nights for the Xbox360 coming in at number 8 and the multi-format Reservoir Dogs beginning its life at number 14. One does wonder whether its position will change drastically when the Xbox version is released (having been delayed because of a printing error) or whether this will be more popular with PlayStation 2 owners alone.

The original version of The Sims sees a fall since it re-entered the charts last month, with The Sims 2 making a slow but steady rise up the charts. Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain? is holding steady being in the Top Ten since its entry on the 10th July this year, while Big Brain Academy has made a quick rise-and-fall in the charts, falling to number 19, almost out of the charts already. I guess people trust the good Doctor to help us use our brains! Thankfully though some of the dodgy movie tie-ins are being sent on their merry way with Monster House dropping 8 places in a week and Over the Hedge sitting at number 17. Another week or two and we should be seeing the back of them!
