As appointed duties go, none could be more gratifying than
that which has been bestowed upon me today. Wii Day.
As part of a series chronicling the run-up to Wii launch, Electronic
Articles brings you the new name for Monday – Wii Day. Over
the next six weeks, Electronic Articles will publish all the
latest information in the Wii world and forward the word of the
industry to our audience, and, alongside will be a brand new Wii
gameplay video, every Wii Day.
Nintendo’s Wii promises to disrupt the videogames industry
and, more importantly, disrupt the way people play games through the
use of a unique interface. The Wii Remote can be used in a single
hand, or turned on it’s side and used with both, as well as using
an expansion port to allow added peripherals, such as the most
commonly used Analogue Stick attachment. At E3
2006, Nintendo
astonished their audience with a line-up of games demonstrating the
true potential of the Wii Remote. Titles such as Metroid Prime 3:
Corruption and Red Steel provided the hardcore with a new
way to play their favourite games, whilst the likes of WarioWare:
Smooth Moves and the Wii Sports collection ushered in
brand new styles of gaming. Today, on the very first Wii Day, we
bring you a gameplay video of one of those titles experienced by the
Electronic Articles team at E3 2006 – Super
Mario Galaxy. Enjoy.
