After
the spectacular explosion of news last week at X06, which included
the likes of a Halo:
Combat Evolved Real-Time Strategy, a Banjo-Kazooie
sequel and the availability of the all-time classic First-Person
Shooter; DOOM, the rumour-mill has slowed somewhat. Perhaps
Microsoft is content with what they have brought to the world of
gaming, and now seek to reap the benefits of what they have sown?
Although
Guitar Hero II was officially announced for Xbox360 last
week, speculation continued as to whether the Guitar Controller
would be wired via USB or wireless, allowing people to rock-out
without the hazards of tripping and/or strangulation. Unfortunately,
the Official Guitar Controller will be wired in the traditional
method, much to the dismay of many fans. Regardless of this, it’s
likely that the sequel to one of the biggest surprise hits of 2006
will be nothing less than awesome, and a must for all wannabe rock
stars.
One
for all you wrestling fans, a WWE SmackDown! Vs. RAW 2007
Demo was released on XboxLIVE! Marketplace on 29th September,
2006. The Demo features a RAW Exhibition Match that highlights some
of the new features introduced by this iteration of the series,
namely the new Analogue Control System, an interactive fight area
within the crowd, environmental “hotspots” and Ultimate Control
moves. Although some of these new features are hardly self
explanatory, we’re betting the new Tutorial Videos will make
everything clear. Weighing in at a hefty 1.06GB, the WWE
SmackDown! Vs. RAW 2007 Demo is available to all XboxLIVE!
users for free.
Now
one for you burger fans! Yesterday it was announced that Microsoft
would be collaborating with fast food maestros Burger King to bring
unique games based on Burger King characters to the US, for Xbox and
Xbox360. Three titles will be available featuring The King and will
be available for $3.99 when bought with a meal. The disc will be
double-sided to allow play on both systems, with the Xbox360 version
featuring improved graphics. There is no news on a European version
as yet.
After
months of rumours it has been confirmed that Microsoft’s new iPod
killer, Zune, will be connect directly to the Xbox360. In fact,
music for the Zune will be available for download using Microsoft
Points, with 79 Points a track a likely figure. Whether or not this
new type of currency will take off in the audio world remains to be
seen, but as things stand, XboxLIVE! Marketplace stands to
become a very profitable enterprise for Microsoft, as well as
pioneer for digital distribution.
