MotorStorm Tops PLAYSTATION3 Chart

Runcorn-based computer games developer Evolution Studios is celebrating its success as MotorStorm, its thrilling Off-Road Racing game, scores a PLAYSTATION3 Electronic Theatre Imagehat-trick in the Japanese, European and US Sales Charts.

MotorStorm was released alongside the launch of the PLAYSTATION3 in all three territories, and the European launch follows the game’s success in Japan and the United States where it also topped the PLAYSTATION3 Chart on its release.

MotorStorm’s savage Off-Road Racing throws players into a frighteningly realistic series of competitions spread across the breathtakingly hostile environment of Monument Valley. Each race sees players battling for First Place through a series of heart-stopping jumps and winding shortcuts in contests that define the word “carnage”. No two Races are ever the same as competing vehicles churn and deform the mud with every rev of their engines – a feat which showcases the sheer processing power of the PLAYSTATION3.

Evolution Studios already has an excellent pedigree in Racing games having produced the highly acclaimed World Rally Championship series. “To see MotorStorm top the European, the Japanese and the US PLAYSTATION3 Charts is just fantastic,” says Martin Kenwright, CEO Evolution Studios. “Developing MotorStorm to a standard we were all happy with was certainly a challenge – but the team here really delivered. Evolution has a reputation for delivering high quality Racing titles, but the consensus was to come-up with something really special for SONY’s new hardware. We’re delighted that the public has agreed with the press and made MotorStorm a worldwide number one PLAYSTATION3 title.”

MotorStorm is certainly worthy of heading-up the PLAYSTATION3 Sales Charts – and it obviously was quite predictable that it would. However, there has yet been little notification as to whether being first on the PLAYSTATION3 Sales Chart even grants you an entrance into the Multi-Format Sales Charts at all.
