Electronic Theatre Special: Sales Chart

Week Ending 12th January, 2007.

Finally, after weeks of EA dominance, the Top 10 has been shaken-up considerably. Straight in at number one this week is the Xbox360 exclusive Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, its combination of on-foot and Electronic Theatre Imagemech action proving popular with a lot of Xbox360 gamers. Another exclusive enters at number two, this time an exclusive First-Party title for the hardest console to find, WarioWare: Smooth Moves for Wii, a real achievement considering the consoles currently limited userbase. It may have been knocked off the top-spot, but FIFA 07 hasn’t fallen far, this week residing at three. Never one to give the FIFA franchise too much breathing space, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 stands firm at four.

Overpowered, heavily-modified cars are still a huge attraction for many gamers as Need For Speed: Carbon falls only three-to-five, with RockStar Games’ surprisingly decent take on playground politics falling one-to-six. EA’s final Top 10 entry, The Sims 2: Pets, seems to have at last lost a little favour with the British public, down four this week to seven. The biggest climber this week comes in the form of the breathtaking The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, up twenty-eight places to eight, likely due to the delayed replenishment of Wii stock to retailers. Another awesome exclusive on the rise this week, although only by one place, Gears Of War at ninth place. Rounding out the Top 10 is Treyarch’s take on the brutal unrelenting conflict of the Second World War, Call Of Duty 3.

The teens see two new releases this week in the form of Wii Play and World Snooker Championship 2007. The former a likely bonus of increased shipments of Wii stock while the latter, well, that’s anybody’s guess!
