The news that CastleVania’s first Wii outing
would be a One-On-One Beat-‘Em-Up shocked many. The move has been
taken with quite a lot of venom by the series fans, while those only
loosely involved with the Belmont family’s adventures have been more
open-minded about the project.
The title is still in its very early design stages.
Several Characters and Levels are available, but the game’s core
still features many obvious Alpha-stage issues. The game most
similarly relates to Power Stone; players enter an area
filled with interactive objects to begin their brawl. Movement is
handled via the Nunchuk Attachment’s Analogue Stick, whilst Wii
Remote gestures execute the character’s main attacks and modifiers
can be applied with use of the A Button and B Trigger. Each player
can choose one of four projectile weapons, which are used with a
quick stab of the A Button alone. The combat is pleasing, if rather
clunky, in its current form and the specialised attacks demonstrate
some fantastic lighting effects.
Scheduled for release prior to the end of the year, Konami have
plenty of time to brush-up CastleVania Judgement. With very
little Beat-‘Em-Up competition on Wii and link-up features promised
for those who connect with the NintendoDS’s
CastleVania: Order of
Ecclesia, CastleVania Judgement is an enticing
proposition indeed. |
