E3 2008:

Wii: Deadly Creatures

Deadly Creatures is a Third-Person Action Platform title being developed by Rainbow Studios – responsible for the Mx Vs. ATV series - and due to by THQ in time Electronic Theatre Imagefor the end of 2008. Exclusive to Wii, the play takes control of a Scorpion and Tarantula as they make their way around the expansive wasteland killing rival bugs and watching as enormous humans trudge past making the ground beneath them shake.

It all sounds very intriguing. According to THQ you will use new special abilities which make ingenious use of the Wii Remote such as using the on-screen pointer to fire your web and swing as a Tarantula, or the Motion-Sensitivity to slash your tail as a Scorpion. The A Button unleashes quick attacks, whilst shaking the remote allows for stronger attacks. The attacks can be linked together for combos, and a Leveling system is present, allowing for more attacks to be discovered. It’s also claimed that a dark and compelling story will be involved, though little information is available on this at present. The two storylines are apparently intertwined, and will cross-paths on several occasions.

The two creatures will have entirely different game play styles, with the Scorpion being more Rambo-style battle-oriented, while the Tarantula will be focused more on the stealthy side of things. Deadly Creatures is currently one of the best looking titles, with stunning animation of the Tarantula’s movement.

The title looks promising, and could very well end-up as an original Platforming adventure, with inventive controls and combat. Right now, we’re not sure; but we’ve got a keen eye on Deadly Creatures, and so should you.
