Facebreaker: K.O. Party is the exclusively
adapted Wii version of Electronic Arts’ cartoon-styled Boxing game,
due for release this winter. Reportedly based heavily on Nintendo’s
own
Punch-Out!, the title has already amassed a fairly large
fanbase.
Looking like a cross between the DreamCast’s
Ready2Rumble and the multi-format Black & Bruised,
Facebreaker: K.O. Party features an eccentric line-up of boxers,
each of the twelve acting as a bigger cliché than the last. The Wii
version hasn’t yet been shown in playable form, and E3 2008 didn’t
break that rule, but Wii owners are promised the same depth through
a simple system which relies on timing, parrying, an increasingly
deadly Special Moves.
A handful of screenshots have been released, as well as
a more definite release date - 11th November, 2008, in Europe - but
there was precious little-else we didn't already know. A Character
Creation option will also be present, but the depths to which this
feature will go are not yet confirmed. Wii owners will no doubt be
hoping for the complex and detailed system included in the Xbox360
and PLAYSTATION3 releases, but we’ll just have to wait til that
fourth quarter release. |
