In MADWORLD, players participate in a game of life and death,
where only the strong will survive. You play as Jack, who’s caught
up in the terror of Death Watch, the murderous
game
created by the terrorists who call themselves ‘The Organizers’. To
remain alive – and solve the mystery behind Death Watch – you must
master the use of weapons and items found within the environment and
compete in ultra violent Mini-Games designed to push you over the
edge. With its irreverent humour and over-the-top violence
MADWORLD delivers a visceral gaming experience that may be an
instant classic on Wii.
At E3 this year, MADWORLD unfortunately wasn’t playable, but
once again a demonstration was on hand to offer a brief glimpse of
the title’s mechanics. Details on the story, other than that above,
remain elusive, however the gameplay appears to be your typical
Scrolling Bea-‘Em-Up agenda, akin to
Devil May Cry 4 and
Too Human. Using both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, execution
of Special Moves require specific motions. Shown here was the main
character repeatedly slamming any enemy against a wall covered with
spikes, which was performed by raising and lowering the Wii Remote
in accordance with the on-screen timing.
After further progressing down the street, the player acquired two
large knives. These weapons he then chose to use on the next
available foe, which he proceeded to cut in two. Due for release in
2009, MADWORLD may not be in-keeping with Wii’s
family-friendly image, but it certainly looks like fun. |
