Microsoft’s casual games haven’t exactly grabbed the
limelight thus far in the Current-Generation of videogames consoles,
with efforts such as
Fuzion Frenzy 2, and
Viva Piñata: Party Animals striking-out almost completely.
So what have Microsoft got for us this time around? A home videogame
version of an American Quiz Show. European gamers can insert their
own witty retort here.
From the makers of Deal or No Deal?
and Big Brother, Endemol,
1 Vs. 100 follows a format wherein an individual competes against
one-hundred other players, answering questions correctly wins cash
prizes, knocking an opponent from the list each time. A wrong
answer, however, results in their current opposition winning, and
any prizes collected thus far being distributed amongst the
remaining members of the one-hundred. The series is expected
to launch in Europe in September as part of the BBC's National
Lottery Saturday night programme, and is suggested to be hosted by
Dermot O'Leary.
Although a brief demonstration of 1 Vs. 100 LIVE!
was present, actual in-game footage is still very
thin-on-the-ground. The game will purportedly be the first title to
be featured on the recently announced XboxLIVE! Primetime
service, and will also support Microsoft’s new Avatar feature. The
title will apparently give away real prizes, although what
format these will take is currently unclear. A feature for the game
we’re expecting more detail on soon is that of 1Vs. LIVE!; wherein a
single player competes against the “entire XboxLIVE!
community”.
We’re expecting more on this one very soon, and although
it looks like Microsoft may well miss-the-point somewhat in Europe,
again,
Electronic Theatre believes 1 Vs. 100 LIVE! at least
shows promise. |
