Nintendo UK has today unveiled stars of music, sport and TV
alongside their families as the latest celebrities to pick up their
NintendoDS and wave their Wii remotes,
showcasing
the latest range of software only available for Nintendo's smash hit
home and handheld consoles.
Girls Aloud, Jamie and Louise Redknapp, Fern Briton and husband Phil
Vickery along with Ronan Keating, wife Yvonne and children Jack,
Marie and Ali will appear in a new outdoor and TV advertising
campaign in the UK from the 27th October playing NintendoDS and Wii
titles. On NintendoDS, Girls Aloud can be seen playing
Nintendogs and
Mario KartDS in the studio and as they relax at home. Ronan
Keating plays Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your
Brain? and then joins his family for some Multi-Player Big
Brain Academy. Fern Briton uses Cooking Guide: Can't Decide
What to Eat? to create a culinary masterpiece for husband Phil
Vickery, whilst Patrick Stewart and Julie Walters catch up on some
More Brain Training on the plane. On Wii. the Redknapp family
can be seen playing
Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl,
Wii Sports and
Wii Fit.
In the first of the TV adverts, internationally acclaimed girl group
Girls Aloud can be seen battling it out to take the chequered flag
whilst dodging bouncing bombs, banana skins and turtle shells in
Mario KartDS as they relax together at home. In another, Nadine
and Kimberley catch up to walk, play and make a fuss of Nadine's
Nintendog 'Miso' during a recording session.
Former Liverpool and England star footballer Jamie Redknapp, singer
and presenter Louise Redknapp along with other members of the
Redknapp family, including Louise's brother Sam, can be seen revving
their engines on the starting grid as anarchy breaks out on
Mario Kart Wii. In another, Jamie and son Charley bat, bowl
and box their way through Wii Sports as one of them aims to
be crowned Wii Sports Champion. In the remaining ad, for
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Jamie and Louise are joined by Sam as
they battle in out in Nintendo's very own 'royal rumble'.
Fern Briton gives husband and TV chef Phil Vickery a break from the
kitchen and sets about creating a dinner for two with Cooking
Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat? but Phil just can't seem to
leave the kitchen or Fern alone for very long. Cooking Guide:
Can't Decide What to Eat? is an interactive cookbook for
NintendoDS featuring over 250 easy to follow step by step recipes
from around the world.
Iconic singer songwriter Ronan Keating, wife Yvonne and children
Jack, Marie and Ali battle it out to see just who has the biggest
brain in Big Brain Academy. Big Brain Academy is the
brain quiz game from the people who brought you Brain Training,
but rather than giving you a traditional 'Brain Age', Big Brain
Academy calculates your performance in the five key mental areas
of 'Thinking', 'Memory', 'Identification', 'Compute' and 'Analysis'
to give your brain a 'weight' and a 'type' based on over thirty
different occupations from 'Art Expert' and 'Banker' to 'Airline
Pilot' and 'Caveman'!
As icons of their respective fields, all were natural choices in
light of their appeal to a wide range of audiences old and young,
creating an affinity with the brand. Bringing their families into
the mix only added to the fun and laughter.
Girls Aloud commented: "We all love our NintendoDS's,
whether racing
with Mario Kart on the tour bus or looking after our
Nintendogs in the studio at the end of a hectic day, there's
always something to keep us laughing and entertained - the different
DS colours mean we never get them mixed up too!"
Nadine added: "I love my Nintendog 'Miso'; I can feed him,
take him for walks and play with him every day, it's just like
having a real dog in my hand."
Jamie Redknapp commented: "I love the Wii. It's great you can be
active while having fun and Louise, Charley and I can all play it
together. My dad's got into it recently too."
Louise Redknapp commented: "We all play as a family whenever we get
together and can't stop laughing. Mario Kart is a lot of fun
- especially when I beat Jamie. There are some great learning based
games for younger children too."
Fern Britton adds: "When I first saw Cooking Guide I thought
it would be a great chance for me to cook and give Phil a night off!
With it's easy to understand, step by step approach to cooking, it's
easy to cook up a treat for even the most demanding eaters."
Ronan Keating said: "Big Brain Academy is great fun for all
the family and its fantastic that Yvonne and I can play it with the
kids too."
Yvonne Keating adds: ""I'm not a very techno person at all, but I
have grown to love my DS. It's really very simple to use, and anyone
can pick it up quickly and easily, I used to use the children's
consoles but now I have my own."
Dawn Paine, Marketing Director, Nintendo UK comments "Families all
over the UK are smiling, laughing and having fun together, whether
they are flexing their mental muscles, unravelling mysteries or
cooking a perfect meal on NintendoDS or racing, hitting a strike,
ace or hole-in-one with Wii there really is something for everyone
and every family." |
