Slapstic.com Present "The Top 100 PS2 Games"

Slapstic.com, in their usual sardonic tone, has delivered a follow-up to their widely appreciated “Top 100 Xbox 360 Games list!” over the last week. Electronic Theatre ImageWith handfuls of both questionable and gratifying releases included, author Ryan Rigney decisively whips true-shape into that short phrase both the PR blurb and ourselves in the media are guilty of pigeonholing videogames with; genre.

While we see the entirely predictable inclusion of big franchises, Gran Turismo, Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, God of War, Tekken, Grand Theft Auto, it’s encouraging to see the likes of Psychonauts, Okami, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US, and also in Slapstic.com’s feature) and ICO included in the line-up.

The second-half of Medal of Honor: Frontline may bring into question it’s eligibility for inclusion in a “Top 100” list on a format with so many competing releases, but the recognition of Beyond Good & Evil as a “Zeldaish Warthog Companion Simulator” and Rogue Galaxy as “Some Artsy Game” ensure that most attentive gamers will be encouraged to look twice at more than one or two entries.

“The Top 100 PS2 Games” is available now over at Slapstic.com.
