Wii Hardware Supply Meets UK Demand

Electronic Theatre has received word that Wii hardware supply in the UK has now reached a level-footing with demand, allowing retailers to freely order their required quantities without limitation.

Since the launch of the system in December 2006, supplies of the Wii Electronic Theatre ImageHardware Bundle, which includes Wii Sports, have continuously failed to meet demand. Koch Media, the official UK distributor of Nintendo products to the retail channel, has informed the independent sector that their requested quantities will no longer be met with a requirement of having had a competitive spend on other Nintendo products in the previous quarter.

The “on allocation” system is one that most of the UK distribution partners use, though Koch Media have regularly been praised for the clear delivery of their requirements, and the considered competitiveness of each independent store.

Koch Media, while being stamped with the “official” label, are not the only distributor of Nintendo products in the UK, though are largely considered to receive the lion’s share of that which is intended for delivery through the UK retail channel. Other distributors, as far as Electronic Theatre is aware, are yet to provide comment on their supply and it’s availability to independent retailers.
