It has been revealed today that a full size M12 ‘Warthog’ LRV, as featured in the Halo series, will arrive in the UK later this month. Set to be unveiled at the London MCM Expo on October 24th-25th 2009, the full size replica is one of only two existing models worldwide.
The London MCM Expo is a bi-annual event, the second leg of which will take place later this month at Excel, which has already confirmed an impressive line-up of videogame titles and events set to be available to attendees. Along with celebrities such as Elijah Wood and British Television personality Craig Charles, the likes of Assassin's Creed II, Monster Hunter Tri, Bayonetta, Tekken 6 and Muramasa: The Demon Blade have all been confirmed to be playable at MCM Expo. Further to this, Tecmo Koei Europe will be running a competition offering a PlayStation 3 console and a copy of the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Collector’s Edition as the trophy in a competition entitled “Tecmo Cosplay Idol”.
The M12 ‘Warthog’ LRV is an A-reg 1984 Land Rover Defender 110, rescued from the GumTree 4×4 yard before its eventual scrapping due to
MoT failure. Rebuilt by Props Studios, the vehicle has been fitted with an entirely new body and lifted suspension, along with as a heap of other modifications. It’s thought that the vehicle will arrive in London in full working order.
The London MCM Expo already has a number of accolades under it’s belt, including a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of cosplayers dressed as videogame characters, and hosting the first public appearance of the full size Warthog replica will no doubt be added to that list. Electronic Theatre will be present at the London MCM Expo later this month, bringing you all the latest details direct from the show floor.
