It has been revealed that Nintendo plan on releasing yet another revision of the incredibly successful Nintendo DS console throughout Europe early next year, revealed as the Nintendo DSi XL. The Nintendo DSi XL boasts two 4.2-inch screens, an extra large stylus and three DSiWare releases on-board.
"A new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010," said a Nintendo UK spokeserson. "The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon."
The Nintendo DSi XL will arrive as the fourth revision of the
Nintendo DS console, originally launched in March 2005 (late 2004 in North America and Japan). The Nintendo DS Lite launched alongside NEW Super Mario Bros. in June 2006 and the Nintendo DSi launched in April of this year. The Nintendo DS followed the phenomenally successful Game Boy series of handhelds from Nintendo, each of which received a number of hardware revisions also. The Nintendo DS series of consoles has sold more than 110 million units worldwide since launch.
The Nintendo DSi XL is due for release in Japan on November 21st for 20,000 yen. No UK or European price or precise release date has yet been revealed, but Electronic Theatre will keep you updated.
