It has been revealed this week that a number of new action figures modelled after characters featured in Activision-Blizzard’s hugely successful World of Warcraft have been confirmed for a UK release. Following the first four series currently available will be the fifth this November, followed by a Premium Figure in January 2010.

Original released in February 2005, World of Warcraft is the dominant force in the world of Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs). With over 11.5 million paid monthly subscriptions and an estimated 62% share of the subscription-based MMO game market, World of Warcraft is an undeniably powerful brand. Having already supported keyboards, t-shirts, calendars, a Trading Card Game series and a number of otherElectronic Theatre Image associated merchandise releases, including a forthcoming motion-picture adaptation, to see the highly detailed action figures continuing their successful run comes as little surprise.

The first additions confirmed for a UK roll-out comprise Series 5 of the World of Warcraft Action Figure Collection. Set for launch on Monday, 30th November 2009, with a Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of £14.99, the Series 5 collection includes several characters: Scourge Ghoul, Rottingham, Night Elf Hunter: Alathena Moonbreeze with Sorna and Alliance Hero: Lo’Gosh. Impressively detailed, any of those included in the series would undoubtedly make an ideal present for a fan of the game this Christmas.

In addition, however, is the release of a brand new Premium Figure. Leading the charge of the second series of the World of Warcraft Premium Figure Collection is Orc Warchief: Thrall. Set to arrive with an RRP of £24.99 on Sunday, 31st January 2010, this impressive figure stands at 10.25" high (with arm outstretched), and boasts some incredibly detailed modelling.

With the success of both the World of Warcraft Action Figure Collection and World of Warcraft Premium Figure Collection in the UK, Series 6 of the World of Warcraft Action Figure Collection is expected to follow in early 2010. As ever, Electronic Theatre will keep you updated.
