No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is the eagerly awaited sequel to last year’s Wii exclusive release from Grasshopper Manufacture and Rising Star Games, No More Heroes. Filling the shoes of Travis Touchdown, a lowly nerd with a penchant for all things anime, Sci-Fi and videogame based, the player is dropped straight into the characteristically demented Santa Destroy, in an effort to climb the ladder all the way to the top spot in the United Assassins Association’s league of hit men.
Details on the sequel will undoubtedly be forthcoming at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), taking place in Los Angeles this week, but today Electronic Theatre can bring you exclusive details on Grasshopper Manufacture’s latest title. With the storyline picking-up some time after the events of the first game, those who played the original may wonder how Travis Touchdown has been brought back into the fray. After his close friend is murdered, Travis turns to the United Assassins Association in order to secure his revenge.
Sylvia Christel, Travis’ advisor, companion and the original antagonist returns in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, offering more in the way of cryptic wisdom as Travis battles his way through fifty new Boss Characters. Yes, fifty. In order to defeat these new adversaries, Travis has many more tricks up-his-sleeve. Not only is he now able to dual wield his Beam Katanas, but he can also now use extended, two-handed variants.
The sequel returns to Santa Destroy, though this time the city will be populated and offer far more in the way of activities. Details on exactly how this may present itself are scarce currently, though with the contents of the city reportedly being the area in which Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51), the Director of the original title, has expressed the most disappointment upon completion of No More Heroes, it’s likely that we’ll receive more than just a lick-of-paint in the sequel.
Few other details have been revealed as of yet, and though No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle has been confirmed for an appearance at E3, all signs currently suggest the game will not be playable on the show floor. Blend Games has reported the Ubisoft will publish the title in the US, though few other details have yet been revealed. No More Heroes has a strong following amongst the Electronic Theatre community, and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is undoubtedly riding-high on our most wanted list right now.
