On the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop this week are two titles that will test your mental agility: one based in space, the other much more down to earth. On WiiWare is the futuristic-styled action-puzzle game Spaceball: Revolution, while Nintendo DSiWare is treated to not one but two of the world's most popular card games, in 2-in-1 Solitaire.
But if all that seems too cerebral for you, they've got just the ticket on Virtual Console, with two classic coin-ops coming to Virtual Console Arcade courtesy of the legendary TECMO: Solomon's Key and RYGAR. Also in the Wii Shop Channel - Final Fantasy fans can get their hands on new Downloadable Content (DLC) for Final
Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord, and the final chapter of the episodic Role-Playing Game (RPG) Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.
WiiWare - Spaceball: Revolution (800 Wii Points)
You're about to embark on one of the most addictive experiences in recent years. Fight your way through fifteen diabolical levels in which you'll have to reconstruct impossible shapes, by shooting space energy balls. Race against the clock and the obstacles to activate the correct patterns.
Spaceball: Revolution will put your aiming ability and your concentration to the ultimate test. Spaceball: Revolution lets you compare your score with the best players world-wide in the different difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Advanced and Master.
DSiWare - 2-in-1 Solitaire (200 Nintendo DSi Points)
2-in-1 Solitaire features two of the most popular versions of the world-famous card game - Spider and Klondike - with simple Touch Screen controls. In Spider, the aim is to arrange cards in piles of a single suit from King down to Ace, thereby removing the pile from play. When all cards are removed, you win the game.
The goal of Klondike is to arrange cards from Ace to King in piles, one for each suit, on the four foundations. You win when all cards have been moved to the foundations. Various difficulty levels are available for Spider and Klondike, allowing beginners or experts to enjoy the game at their own pace.
Virtual Console - Solomon's Key (500 Wii Points)
Solomon's Key is an action/puzzle game where you control the wizard Dana and delve into a labyrinth to seek out a magical tome called Solomon's Key, the key item that will aid you in your quest to drive away evil spirits let loose in the world.
The goal of the game is to use buttons to create and destroy blocks, using all of the skill and techniques at your disposal to find keys to pass through doors. You can adjust the number of lives available and the difficulty level for a custom experience.
This game has appeared on a variety of platforms, but the arcade version focuses strongly on the action elements of the game, making it more challenging and allowing players of all skill levels, from beginner to expert, to enjoy it.
Virtual Console - RYGAR (600 Wii Points)
This side-scrolling action game rocked arcades in 1986 - and now you can play it from the comfort of your living room. The human race has been brought to its knees by
the resurrected ancient Beast Lord. Faced with extinction, the people brought Rygar, a legendary warrior, back to life. He must now fight to save his race.
As Rygar, you are armed with your trusty Disk Armour and must make full use of your strength and agility to venture through and clear all twenty seven stages. And don't forget to collect everything you see - the game is full of hidden bonuses.
Revolutionary at its time, this game received high acclaim for its beautifully rendered graphics, such as waterfalls and the setting sun.
