The new Wii console bundle, originally revealed by Electronic Theatre last month, has now arrived at UK retail and is available for consumer purchase. The new bundle has not received a reduction in price as many had anticipated, but rather added in more value through additional hardware and software.
While retaining the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of £179.99, the new Wii bundle is packaged with Wii Sports Resort in addition to the original Wii Sports. Further to this, the Wii Remote and Nunchuk included in the bundle are complimented by the inclusion of a Wii MotionPlus unit. Wii MotionPlus contains additional sensors that make the Wii Remote respond to the slightest movement, motion, or twist of the wrist, and is compatible with a number of games already available including Virtua Tennis 2009, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10,Grand Slam Tennis and, of course, Wii Sports Resort.
This new bundle will replace the original offering, which is now likely to receive severe discounting at major retail outlets. When contacted this morning, two major international supermarket chains stated that they would reduce the price of existing stocks of the original bundle to below £150, but both refused to pinpoint an exact price and asked not to be mentioned directly, presumably for fears of a backlash from Nintendo with their statements acting against the hardware manufacturer’s marketing plans for the new bundle. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest on Wii and it’s retail availability.
