Having gone down as one of the most pleasing surprises of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Kirby’s Epic Yarn has already commanded a great deal of anticipation after only one public airing. This attention is most certainly warranted however, as Kirby’s Epic Yarn proves as compelling to play as it does to watch in motion.

Ubisoft’s Wii exclusive Just Dance caused quite a stir in the latter part of last year and even early into 2010. Repeatedly topping the UK sales charts unexpectedly too all – Ubisoft included, it would appear – the modest package of course deserves a sequel, if not for it’s underdog status then simply to meet the newfound demand for inventive dance games. Just Dance 2 carries that character through in its hyperactive presentation, as despite its predecessor’s success the series is most likely to play second fiddle to Ubisoft’s other forthcoming dancing title, Michael Jackson: The Experience.

Ubisoft’s first release of Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip for the Nintendo Wii became one of the best selling titles in December 2008 and has to date sold well over three million copies. It was one of the first snowboarding games to use the Wii Balance Board as a primary element within its control system. In November 2009 Ubisoft released a Wii-exclusive sequel to the game called Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage, which made use of both the Wii Balance Board and Wii Motion Plus. Shaun White Skateboarding is the first skateboarding title in the Shaun White series and will include the use of both the Wii Balance Board and Wii Motion Plus in its controls.

It was only a matter of time before Grease was given the videogame treatment. Its family entertainment value knows no bounds so what better way to flaunt its new format than in a family-friendly collection of mini-games.

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of Nintendo’s Pre-E3 2010 Press Conference, Retro Studios’ revisit to RARE’s captivating 16-bit Platform series marks the next stage of Nintendo’s bridge building between markets. A traditional 2D Platform title which features a recognisable gaming mascot and a simple interface, in marketing terms Donkey Kong Country Returns is New Super Mario Bros.’ successor in all but name, but in play it’s a return to RARE’s classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) formula.

At the London MCM Expo last month, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom Ultimate All-Stars made it’s European debut to what appeared to be a frequently bewildered audience. With Capcom offering a number of well-known, genre-defining characters and Tatsunoko mustering a handful of B-List stars, it would be easy to suggest that a European release is a pleasant surprise, if not a downright shock. However, even from the brief time with the game, Electronic Theatre would certainly lean on the side of being grateful Capcom have seen fit to bring the title to Europe.

The latest  Rabbids videogame release, Rabbids Go Home, is a Wii exclusive title set to launch across Europe tomorrow. While that brief introduction may suggest to many another mini-game compilation, Rabbids Go Home is yet another title in Ubisoft’s arsenal which it would be better to avoid assuming too much about. While on the surface Rabbids Go Home may be the next title in line to be the annual Rabbids release, the game itself is a very different kettle-of-fish to the Rayman Raving Rabbids series.

Electronic Theatre Image

Electronic Theatre rated Wii Sports as being the fifth best multi-player game available and it cannot be denied by even the most adamant cynic that Wii Sports has defined and revolutionised the casual gaming scene. Wii Sports Resort not only has the hard task of matching the success of the original but it also needs to build on that success and deliver an even more playable, enjoyable, and crowd pleasing package, and we here at Electronic Theatre feel safe in assuring you that it does just that. From what we’ve seen at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Wii Sports Resort has all the panache you could want and expect and more than fills the boots of its predecessor not least due to the addition of the extremely accurate Wii MotionPlus attachment.
