Assassin’s Creed II is available in the UK from today, and to celebrate Electronic Theatre can today bring you the launch trailer. Debuting on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with a PC release set for early next year, Assassin’s Creed II is one of very few games to brave release under the cloud of the mighty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s success.

            For gamers across Europe and in North America, the wait is finally over. This time you will vicariously be living the life of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young man whose life will be changed by unforseen events which will make him seek revenge and become a master Assassin. Set during the Renaissance in Florence, Italy, players will encounter a whole new challenge, and much more besides, in the sequel to 2007’s most successful original intellectual property (IP). Assassin's Creed II brings with it a unique property of it's own, the debut of Ubisoft's Uplay initiative - which could certainly prove to be an interesting concept.

            The launch trailer introduces Assassin’s Creed II’s protagonist as he states his reason for being an assassin, and the vengeance it will one day bring through his narration. A number of aggressive combat manoeuvres are demonstrated, along with the first official video footage released for a number of Leonardo Da Vinci’s impressive machines and inventions. Da Vinci himself also makes a brief appearance, seemingly as young and handsome as only the most optimistic re-imagining could be.  

            Electronic Theatre recently delivered a preview of Assassin’s Creed II in which, when compared with the need to outdo the original title, it was stated that, “we have no reason to believe they haven’t been successful.” We’ll have a full review for you very shortly, but in the meantime you can enjoy this brand new trailer.
